On January 18, 2018, the 2018 National Health Emergency Work Conference was held in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. Cui Li, deputy director of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Cui Li pointed out that in 2017, the national health emergency frontline focused on implementation, with rapid and effective response to emergencies, with significant results; extensive participation in the national health emergency skills competition, with many highlights; and progress in basic work such as standardization of health emergencies.

Cui Li emphasized that the past five years have witnessed the fastest development of health emergency, the largest increase in capacity, significant response to incidents, and a significant increase in international influence. In the new era, we must deeply understand the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, accurately grasp the new requirements, new positioning, and new tasks of health emergency work in the new era, and focus on the health emergency system and capacity building in the new era.

Cui Li requested that in 2018, we must do a good job in key tasks such as health emergency team management, base construction, training and drills, command and operation information systems, standardized management, monitoring and risk assessment, and spiritual and cultural construction. The prevention and control of infectious diseases and emergency medical rescue work to protect the lives and health of the people.

Xu Shuqiang, director of the Emergency Office of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, made a summary of the meeting. Seven provinces and cities including Jiangsu and China Center for Disease Control and Prevention made speeches at the meeting. All provinces (regions, cities, including production and construction corps) health and family planning committees are in charge of responsible comrades and directors of emergency response offices, responsible comrades of relevant departments and bureaus of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, directly affiliated units and affiliated hospitals, relevant national departments, associations, and Hong Kong and Macao health departments More than 150 representatives attended the meeting.
